Why are the signs that crave a connection the most, struggle to open up and put up walls?
cancer, scorpio and then pisces.
cancer and scorpio will put up protective barriers, which stops them from opening up and possibly making that connection.
A pisces may be too shy.
I read somewhere in a book; that to a scorpio moon particularly, love is a matter of "life or death", thus it takes great pains for a scorpio moon to finally let go of "fear" and experience the risk of love. I will post up an excerpt later.
my theory is, these signs invest so much in a connection; it's where they most feel vulnerable and impacted to the core of their identity and where if they fully let go, cannot protect themselves if pain hits them; and just like the analogy of making a big investment, one feels it is a big, personal* risk and therefore takes it very cautiously.

A confluence of emotions, feelings, and impressions run through them in any given time period.
