What brands of antique stoneware are the best to buy?
I am looking to collect some antique style stoneware like from Monmouth Western Stoneware, Red Wing, etc. I am curious which brand is the "best" as far as durability and holding its value. I would like to pass these down to my children later on! I'm specifically looking for canisters.
Virtually any antique you buy is going to appreciate in value. The two makers you mentioned are excellent, as are Brush-McCoy, and Niloak. If you don't want to spend a great deal of money, consider Robinson-Ramsbottom. Their pottery is undervalued at the moment, while growing in popularity daily. The main thing, of course, is just to buy what you like.
